lower stall converter?..
hey guys, i was wondering if there are any respectable stall converters out there around the 2500-2800 range? don't want a high stall car cause i don't like all the rpms all the time, but figured if they had a stall around 2600 it would wake it up a little bit and be fun when i push while not so bad on the gas mileage.. i dd the car to high school, which is one of the reasons of not wanting a crazy high stall.

check out edge racing converters.
i got a 2600 stall from them for my RC hemi ram and it dropped more than .26 off my 0-60 times
in regular driving i only know its there because i spent the money. if i didnt tell you it was there you'd never know. but lay into the pedal and the tires just light up

I recommend EDGE as well I have been very happy with mine. I also would recommend going with a 3000 at least I was in the same boat as you when I looked for converters, and I ended up going with 3200. I drive my car daily to school and back and around town as well and 3200 is not to much at all. With an ls1 I don't think you should go any lower than 3000 at least. You might be surprised how streetable a stall up to 3600 even will be. Also do not forget to install a trany cooler and a shift kit would be a good idea since a stall really makes the shifts loose.

I would deff go 3000+. I have ridden in cars with 3500 and 4000 converters. Both of which were daily driven and they weren't bad at all.
IMO a Yank 3200 would be perfect for what you want to do.

I got the Circle D 3000 stall and after a tune it's a perfect daily driver. Didn't noticeably drop my mpg's at all, but picked up .4 at the quarter mile with nothing else changed. After a week of driving you don't even notice the stall anymore.

that sounds like where i would want mine to lock up, all the streets on the way to school are 35mph, and i don't want to drive around 4k all the time.. i'll have to drive a stalled car to know what its like..

you can tune the lock up time. you just need to make sure you get a stall with the lockup capability. that way your when cruising your mpg should not drop much if any at all. i am not going to tell you which size stall to get. personally, if your car isn't going to be ran on drag radials or better i would not get that large of a stall either. the smaller stalls tend to be more efficient top end anyways. if you have tires that hook well, then a larger stall may be nice.

just because its a 4k stall doesn't mean thats where your motor lives. i have to get my 3200 above two grand to get it moving but thats about it. i dont stay at 3200 and over, although its easy to get there. if you drive easy you can stay low key. i have an edge converter also.

Unless you are at WOT, once lockup is achieved (1:1 ratio), the vehicle drives as normal as when it was stock.
If I had to do it all over again, I would go with a 3600 stall.
DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON ANYTHING LESS THAN A 3K STALL.

That is a 9 1/2" converter, it creates alot of heat, my Y3000 (Yank) is a 11" converter, and I still needed a trans cooler.
If you purchace the Vig, make sure you have a aftermarket cooler on hand, and a tune will be a must, the vehicle will not idle properly without it.

But even though I have a 3600 stall it will only spin to about 1700-1800 b-4 it locks if I stay out of the throttle. It just depends how much foot I have in the pedal.
But when I get into it that 4800 shift extension is wicked

Stall has no effect on idle
You may need a tune to adjust your shift points and lockup speed.
