Default Restalling a converter

I am currently running a TCI SSF converter. Do any of the sponsors restall and refresh(change bearings, lock up clutch etc etc) converters that they initially did not build? Or is buying a new converter a more cost effective method.

I sent my old crapped out Yank to TCI and they fixed it up good as new. Very reasonably priced too. Is there a reason you don't want to send it to TCI for a refresh.

Im not really looking for a refresh more like a tailoring. My current stall works for me but it could really be a little bit looser. I was wondering if any of the current sponsors are willing to restall a converter that they did not originally build. Maybe alter the converter more to their own specs/setups.

Give me a call.We restall and fix other companies stuff all the time.We are a full service converter shop. It depends on the particular core they used to build the converter that limits the stall change but I would have to see it.We charge 125.00 plus parts.1-866-726-8358.Were open 8:00 to 5:00 est

Thanks,
Greg

Back from the dead

Greg,

Can i take a few pictures and send them to you? Is there anything in particular that needs to be shown in the pictures? Any dimensions that need to be verified?

Thank you
Brian

Back from the dead once again, this time with pics. Please tell me what can be done to this TCI SSF. I can only foot brake it to about 2200-2300 be for the tires brake loose. This is a turbo caprice (stock LT1) running on 7 psi of boost. If you need some time slip data i would be more then willing to post it up.

looks like that converter has been cut a few times. Looks like the last shop that had it put a ring saver on the pump (pump side of the converter) machined it down and had a big giant leak (where that monster goober of weld is)

That particular style of converter does not use a billet front. For a boosted car like yours, I would highly recommend a stronger converter. You can re-stall that one to help you get in boost better, but it is just not strong enough no matter what you do. Sorry to say, but I would save the money towards a custom built billet converter for your car.
