Default performabuilt or other trans guru's

my trans suddenly went south today. it makes a horrible dragging sound in first gear but in second and third it goes away but kinda comes back in 4th. i actually thought something was draging under my truck.

any ideas?

Almost sounds like a sprag issue. Does it make the noise in manual low? In first gear there is probably the most load on it. In 4th it freewheels and in your car this is when it makes noise. I'm not saying this is what is wrong but it is a possibility. Unfortunately it sounds like you might be in need of a transmission. Feel free to give us a call to discuss your options. Vince

yeah if i put it down in first it does it real bad and if i put it in 2nd it goes away third no noise, but 4th i can kinda hear it but not as loud. happened after a hard run.

Might be a low roller as well. Either way it needs to come out and be repaired or replaced. Take a look at our sales thread or give us a call to discuss your options. Vince

if you never want to do this again i would go with a FLT trans.........

our FLT lvl4 has not missed a beat.....good luck in your choice!

Both FLT and Performabuilt have rocking trans. I put many hard miles on my PERFORMABUILT 4L60E

Yes I would agree that its likely a low roller or planet and you will be needing to rebuild or replace your trans, Take a look at our specials
