Default Simple Question.. Bellhousing "cover"

Hey, was under my car the other day and noticed that this little cover had fallen off.. what are my options? Do I need it? I'm guessing its not a bad idea to keep dirt out and what not.. if so where? Kinda stupid question sorry

edit: excuse my oil pan gasket leak.. that looks horrible :x

you can get it at the dealer for around $10. i believe it is considered an inspection cover and is meant to keep water and debris out. mine has been off for a year because i keep forgeting to put it back on when the car is on the stands so far so good
