i use a 3000 stall from Hughes Perf. and i love it. Very good perf. and driveability. I have every bolt on, a mild cam, and the stock 2:73's

whats the difference in a high and low STR
yank has a write up about it on their site but if i understand correctly is basically the "hit" of the converter off the line...the # represents the tq multiplication factor at stall...so if you had like 300ftlbs at stall speed it would multiply that # at the initial hit by say 2.5 in the ssf3500 meaning it would be like 750 i guess? Thats how i interpet it now with 2.73 gears your tq multiplication is crap off the line so you want a better hit...if your running like 3.73's or 4.10's you dont want as much of a hit cuz the rear will do that for you. Anyone want to correct me chime in

i have 2.73
3400 2.0
i run street only
crappy street tires
otherwise stock car
wish i had gotten 2.5
next verter is 3800/2.55

i dont know about this "less str" idea
i would rather have more str and have to learn to use restraint then get less str and be able to mash it without problems on the street, and then get street performance on the track. also, i think 2.0 is enough for the launch, but what about from a roll? every time im on the freeway i wish i had more.

sure, you could just change your gears,
but isnt ~80mph @ ~2k rpm nice?

Wont a higher STR hurt you on highway rolls? ie.not very efficent up top, maybe the same or a little less mph in the 1/4mi but a good 60'ft time (with good tires) atleast that is what I thought?

A high STR does not mean that it sucks from a roll. The PT line of converters is Yank's PREMIER "from-a-roll" converter and look at the STRs they have.

What makes a converter good from a roll are good shift extension and good efficiency.

IMO a higher STR make the converter much more streetable... if you can use restraint

PT4000 or more depending on spray with at least a 2.7 STR with those gears. I have that converter with 3.73's and it pulls very hard through 3rd.
No spray go with the 4200 or 4400. You'll never have to change converters again.

EDIT: just reread and seen the tires you are using. you should really get soe E/T Streets for this converter. If not lower the STR to about 2.5.
