Default Need some guidance

i currently have a bolt on/ cam 02 camaro. im happy with the car and how it runs on the street/track but i believe its got more. ive been tossing around the idea of an auto. ive been in manuals all my life and never really owned an auto so im not real familiar with pros/cons. can anybody give me any recomendations to what tranny would be a good choice for a mostly track car with some street use? i need somethin reliable, yet nothing crazy expensive. not sure if i should go stock a4 and just add a big converter or go all out with something aftermarket?

current mods are torquer 2 cam, full bolt ons with an built 8.8 w/ 4.11s and few suspension mods.

autos tend to be much more consistent, and much easier on the rest of the drivetrain. Manuals tend to dislike drag radials such as the et street radial. track only cars will go through clutches. as far a auto trans recommendations there are built 4l60e's out there that can hold power over 500hp, but they are pricey($2000+). If its a track only car you might look at a 3 speed auto (th-350 or th-400) as they can be built to hold oobers of power for much cheaper. Also don't forget about a 2 speed powerglide cause they can be built to any power level for fair prices, and if i recall correctly the pg can weigh under 100lbs.

yeah like he said

-easier on drivetrain
-consistent
-cheaper (i think because of clutches and stuff)
-people say they arent fun, but i say its fun because i dont have to clutch all the time (i daily a m5 carolla and it gets annoying lol)

the 4l80e is the truck tranny, people say they are very strong. and 4l60e isnt weak really. heat is an auto trannies worst nightmare, so buy a good cooler for it and it should be fine.

depends on maintenance really. i have stock power so i couldnt tell you, and ive only had my car for about 8 months. but think of it this way, its a 9 year old car already. meaning a 9 year old transmission.

im sure if you dont drag the car you should be fine on the street with the proper cooler.
