Default Stall question

What would be the best ideal stall to put in a DD car with 3.73 gears?

I say nothing less than a 3600, I'm going with something in the 4000-4400 range

I'd say go with a Yank SS3600 or SS4000 for street duty. Even with stock gears, the SS series is known for it's tightness and excellent DD qualities. With 3.73's, it'd be that much tighter.

3000-4000 depends on what you want from the car.

I was somewhat shooting for the 3200-3600 range. The Yank ss3600 sounds nice. Might have to give that one a try.

I would suggest 3 possible converters.

Option 1: 11" 278MM 3000-3200 stall - these converter have great street manors and won't break the bank.

Option 2: 10" 245MM - 3200-3400 Stall "2C" Billet Street/Strip series, probably your best choice for great street manors and performance.

Option 3: 10" 245MM -3500-3700 Stall "3C" Billet Street/Strip series, better performance but starts to be noticeable on the street.

Hmm I like option 2. Seems to be the best of both worlds.

Do a search and you'll see countless members running the SS3600 and loving it. It's one of the most popular converters mentioned on this site.

We wold sugest our SRLS series converters. This converter will reduce your et .6-.8 tenths in the 1/4 and will drive fantastic on the street. They come with a 3 year warranty and a free stall change so when you change your combination we can change it to match. We also offer much more aggressive converters but traction and driveability will suffer.Heres the link to our webpage on them.http://www.fticonverters.com/convert...CONVERTERS.jpg

Damn that's not bad city driving at all with that yank. I think I know what I'm going with when it's stall time.

Hey guys guess I'll add my .02Cents. I have a 02ws6 with 3.73s and had a vig 3200 lockup very very loose. It would flash to 3800, animal from 0-70ish but after that since my engine was stock it fell on its face, no upstairs pull whatsoever. It would shift itself at 6kish then drop down to 5400rpm and if you look in my sig. you see that was way to high but the reason why I got it was because I told precision that I do a lot of "track" racing so yes at the track I dropped 4tenths went from 12.8consistent with 315drag radials and down to a 12.30's with slicks and the converter. Now the day I ran the 12.3's my rear went so I now have a strange 3.73s same gears. My tranny went as well due to the converter being loose and heating it up yes I always had a becool tranny cooler. Now back to the stock converter till I get a came but that was why I bought Nitrous and a whole nother story of my ramblings hope it helps.

I have an SS3800 with the OEM 3.23s and drivability on the street is fine. After a couple years with this 'verter, I finally got the slip codes deleted and can drive around in OD now. It's funny because then the car shifts from 3rd to 4th the RPMs actually go UP, which was a little freaky at first, but I don't have to drive in 3rd around town.

My brother had an SS4000 with 3.73s (because his OEM gears were 2.73s) and he said that it felt as tight as my car did.

I say go at least 3600. When it's time to go through the tranny, I'm going to upgrade to a PT4400. The 3800 is a little loose but I love it!
