Default 4L60E vs T400 angle

I was talking to Mike @ Yank and he made an interesting comment.

4L60E is set up to sit level.

T400's were set up to sit at a 5% angle, the back would be a little lower. If the angle is not right the dipstick could end up being wrong.

If you have the ultrabell on yours, when you bolt it up you will have no choice as to the angle. You get what you get. Hell the tailshaft will just hang there. You only need a light shim to make up for the gap. Madman's dipstick tube is tight, but it fits. The Lokar stick is flexible and will go where you want it.

Never heard of that John. A 5% angle in the center of the tranny will result in a bit bigger angle at the tailshaft. To me that would be too much of an angle. Mine sits at the same level the 4l60e sat, and I have Madmans dipstick and I have had -0- problems wih over/underfilling issues.

I tried like hell to make my Th400 sit in there with the tailshaft perpendicular to the ground. The best I could get was about 1 degree down with the tranny against the tunnel. I finally dropped it down some and fabbbed up a 1.5" spacer to install between the member and mount.

Otherwise,, the short tailshaft TH400 matches up perfectly to the MN6 cross member, so no mod's were required.
