Locking the converter will not gain anything in your 60', if I'm reading this right. That would be a traction issue. You would be in 1rst gear through the 60' mark. You have a good trans, but you would have to tune the shifts not to bang the trans and driveline parts not to beat themselves apart once locked. The converter acts as a cushion but can be built to be efficient enough not to have to lock in 2nd to gain ET. If you want NO SLIP, get a Clutch Turbo or Clutch Flight. Pop the clutch and shift.

Sorry, I wasnt very clear.

I meant I want to take my 60 froot from 2.0 which is the best ive done on street tires and stock stall down to atleast 1.7 with the stall and sticky tires.

Im gonna see what the trans is doing when its dry out.

It usually will unlock on the 2nd to third shift.

Can your tuning devise keep you locked thru 3rd? Can you "soften the shifts" while you are locked? Remember the sledge hammer effect? I've helped a few GN guys in the past that worked pretty good locking the converter in 2nd. Talk to your converter company and see if they can "tighten" your converter to pick up some time. I just got off the phone with a friend of mine down south that is "blowing" thru the converter with his turbo project on the dyno and he's leaving HP on the table. He's calling a sponsor to take care of this problem Monday. I hope you can dial your trans in to get to your goals. There are good sponsors here to assist if you run into trouble. Good luck!

to keep it simple, if you have a good tuner there are calibrations that will release during he shift and reapply after the shift is completed.

Yea, my tuner had it set up like that.

All I did was make it lock up earlier in second, then it unlocks when it shifts to third, then locks back up.

The converter should be fine, its not too loose as far as I can tell

That should not hurt anything as long as the reapply time does not take too long.

Yea, I dont think a short period will hurt anyway...might actually be good to slip for short perioud with my setup.

Anyways, another thing I noticed was with my stock converter I would trap 85 in the 1/8, 112 in the 1/4

with this new converter and street tires so both times were shitty 60 foots, like 2.0-2.1, I was trapping 87 in the 1/8 and losing mph up top so 110-111 in the 1/4

I understand that if I was running slicks and had better 60 foots and better e.ts I might lose trap speed but this wasnt the case at all.

This leads me to believe that locking the converter up top should atleast bring my trap back up to 112 or so if not improve it by a couple mph since im up 2 mph by the 1/8 already
