TC shimming question

TC shimming question I got my 4l60 bolted up to the motor tonight. I took a feeler guage and checked the distance between the mounting tabs on the TC and the flexplate. I got .280", its a Vig converter. On the searches I've done I see that the max should be .187". Since I obviously have to some shimming, how much?? Is .280" typical or is that unusual??
