Tranny Cooler is leaking
Tranny Cooler is leaking Hey guys,
Recently my tranny cooler has started leaking. I had it in the garage for a week, and before I put it away it wasn't leaking. I took it out a few days ago and it was running fine, but I noticed a spot on my driveway. The transmission cooler seems to be leaking a little bit. I have a pic, it looks quite dirty and gunked up. There's "sludge" around/in the cooler and you can see where the leak ran down my air-dam. I bought the car with the cooler so i don't really know how they work. I imagine I lost some fluid though, so should I add some or what?

Any clue where it's leaking from? They work just like a radiator. I'd check the fittings first to make sure that they are not the culprit. The input/output fittings are the most likely place for something like that to leak. A lot of coolers use NPT or Nominal Pipe Thread. If your previous owner, like mine, was a dipshit, he might have used the wrong fitting to secure the hose / coolant line to the cooler. It's why I'll never buy another modded car.

You can't see it in the pic, but the only thing I think? I saw, was a rubber hose going in to the left side (dark side of the pic, of course) and it had dirt and crap all over it too. I didn't see the output hose.

Verdad Gallardo Oh, lol. Yeah whoever put it on used the backstraps and zip ties on the top. When I take the bolts out and cut the zip ties, I'm gonna need to take the hoses out right? Am I gonna lose a lot of fluid?
