Default Trans Gear swap??

hey guys...been on here for a little while..have a couple friends with LS1/LSX cars (Noyzee might ring some bells). Hopefully we can put away the fact I drive a Cobra outof the way for a second..haha. Im having a hard time finding some answers to a question I have about my trans gears and you LS1Tech guys have alot of dedicated people that know their stuff on here. Not many hardcore Cobra racers....so here goes...

My Cobra has an auto in...best thing Ive ever done to it imo. Anyways the gears are

1st - 2.84
2nd - 1.55
3rd - 1.00
Rear - 4.10s

tires - 28x10.5 et drags

car weighs 3450 w/ me, should be 3350 this year

at my current power level 465rwhp and tq, 1st gear is SHORT. like starting to tap the shifter at the 60 foot mark short. so my first thought is to drop a rear gear to 3.90s. now 1st will be a little longer but the rpm drop from 1 to 2 and 2 to 3 will be greater. it already drops from my 6400 shift point down to 5000 so this would bring it down to 4700ish.

my second thought is to change the trans gears. I only have one other option which is

1st - 2.40
2nd - 1.47
3rd - 1.00

now this looks good. gear changes owuld keep the rpms up more BUT....is the 2.40 gear going to be enough to get the car going with 3.90s? how about 3.73s?

I pull mid to high 1.4s out of the hole now with the 2.84/4.10 combo but feel I just blow right through my broad power band. what do you guys think? Im not sure what all of your trannies run for gears so maybe you can enlighten me on some of your setups/power. thanks a bunch

drop that gear in the tranny, this will get your car to hit the tire better as well and use the converter more. once you swap that you should be in good shape. a little tweaking of the suspention and that 9 sec mark is for sure!! wish i could have helped more last year to hit that mark

figures...you post first to my question!!! was gonna call you but figured a post to get multiple answers.

so you think the 2.40 will be fine even if I drop the rear gear a tad?

i would leave the rear alone to start. change one thing at a time. we can swap the gears in an hour if need be.
i saw you called, i will hit you up when i get out of work
