a4 reallllly stuck to motor
i know i got all of the bolts. the converter is disconnected from the flywheel. but no amount of prying or moving the trans will get it unstuck am i missing something any ideas would be appriciated
Put a four foot crow bar in where the drivers side inspection cover was and pry, same thing on the other side where the starter was.
This question comes up a lot, it should not take more than 10 minutes to seperate these when everything is disconnected and all the bolts are out.

If your absolutely sure you got all the bolts out, spray penatrating fluid on the two guide pins on the trans bellhousing. let them soak then pry carefully.
tap the bellhousing with a deadblow, or carefully with a hammer. its a pain in the azz but will seperate.

If its an LS1, did you get all 8 bolts out? I was under the impression there was 7, but there is 8. The one in the top, dead center, i got after dropping the exhaust, and with about 2 feet of extension.
you know im having the same problem with my trans also.sprayed the dowl pin holes and its been two days now and still wount budge.but i dont want to brake the trans either.but imm going back to to work on it some more.i thought some one on here would have the same problem.im going in with the BFH this morning.do we half to tune our trans for the stall?
are you able to get anything between the engine and trans? like lightly tap a flat head screw driver between them to act like a wedge to maybe get them to pop apart. im glad i never had to go through that. my stuff always came off easy.
i also found out after several trans swaps the engine and trans almost have to be perfectly level before they will pop apart.

Make sure the engine and transmission are level to each other. The transmission could be sagging down a little bit and binding up on the dowels. That was my problem.
We had the same problem. Called my buddy and he told me, shake the **** out of it. It will come out. So I told my son to get out from under the car, put a floor jack under the crossmember and I shook that thing until it came loose...LOL!
lol i tryed kicking it side to side up and down.im so sore from that dam thing.walked away for a day and starting again monday morning.ill try anything that works.the big pry bar is in hand.

I worked with mine for two days before it finally came off. What did the trick was getting a ratchet strap and tie it around the tailshaft (loop it a few times and double up) and tie it around the rear end. Start ratcheting and get a big pry bar. BIG. Put it in the hole for the starter and make sure you are not prying on the flywheel. Nothing worked but this. Give it a try. Make sure its a large ratchet strap. Mine was a 1200lb rating and was about to the point where we could no longer ratchet it when it barely budged with me prying with every bit of strength i had. :-). Grease the dowels before it goes back in and make it easier next time.
wow ive never had a problem gettin one out, guess im juts been lucky
9/10 times all i do is grab the tail shaftand yank the ever livin Sh@t out of it, usually falls right out...
good luck!
