Where did you get this info? Is this a fact or your opinion? Now, i have not talked to TCI but in the video the rep says that this trans can only be run with the paddle shifters. Do you know of any reason that you can't (according to TCI) run a regular shifter?

I am not here to promote this in anyway. So just to clarify the video first, fronm what ai know the TCI rep is clueless. You do not need the paddle shift, it can be controlled without it. Second I stated the ratios cant be what was advertised is true. It's our money feel free to do what you want.

OH wait this thing has a 1.1 5th gear my 400 has a 1.1 3rd gear. I see exactly what TPTRANSMISSION is saying. I would kinda like to something with the same gear specs as what the 6 speed manual guys have with a different 1 first gear.

This is first hand knowledge. I am a product manager at TCI. Once again you do NOT have to use the paddle shifter UNLESS you want to manually shift it. If you never want to do that, you don't need it. Otherwise, you can use ANY 4-speed automatic style shifter. You put the shifter in 4th position and it will automatically upshift thru all 6 gears.

How do you get 2 extra ratios out of a 4 speed transmission? And pertaining to the diesel guys with allison 6 speeds, a stage 4 suncoast transmission rebuild is about 3500 bucks to handle 500+ RWHP and 1000+ ft/lb.

To get the 2 extra gears you need to make mods to the valve body and electronics to apply OD in 2nd & 4th gear. As far as the Allison, it won't fit into a street rod type application as easy as the 4L80E and the 4L80E is by far a stronger piece.

can someone help me with this. how do you start with a 4 spped. and make it a 6 speed?

and i would just wait for the 6L60 out of the g8 or caddy

iwas quoted 5700 complete for my gto. thats the controller the tranny, and the paddles. dont forget factory steering wheel = not compatible. 4 or 5 bolt only.

Thanks for the explanation. Why didn't you just post that you worked for TCI?

Can you use the paddle shifter in combination with a regualr shifter?

Sorry about not posting that. I do so much of this that it all starts to run together sometimes when I type! You can use the paddle shifter with any shifter. The wireless receiver for it is connect to the TCU harness so it is completely separate from any mechanical shifting of the trans.

im going to get the module itself for now, then when i upgrade to the 4l80e ill already have the computer and paddles. it will work with the 4l60e. according to my sales rep

I'm not sure about the 4L80E being a stronger piece than the allison. I bet if you stuck your transmission in my truck I could blow it up real quick But I do agree that the allison can be blown up just as easily.

Would love to see a vid of with a F-body running it with & without the paddles... Ie Speeds through the gears , drivability , milage with foot out of it..... yada yada yada ..

We are planning on having a video of it sometime this week. It show the manual mode as well as automatic. But it's not using the paddle shifter to shift. We have Re-designed our Outlaw shifter handle that has 2 buttons incorporated into the handle. One for up shift and the other for down shift.
