I am look at either a TCI 4L80E with a Streetfighter TC or a pro-built 4L60E with a 4400 stall TC. Both cost the same. Could I wire either one to the stock computer and use my LS1-edit to control it? Of the two trannys, which would be more durable with a rebuilt 347cid motor with high compression and up to 275HP of nitrous?
4L80 is definately the stronger of the two. 4L60's can be made strong but ultimately it seems to be hit or miss, and they are just ticking timebombs in many cases. With a 275 shot of juice you'll probably be seeing a nearly 400 ft/lb increase, and with a 347 I'd imagine it's a rebuild that is far from stock to begin with. That's a bunch more than I would ever expect a 4L60 to handle for any length of time, especially with a big converter. The 4L80 is not as efficient as a 4L60, but tow trucks get a dollar per mile. Sometimes you have to give a little, to get a little, ya know?
As for wiring the 4L80, I'm pretty sure it cannot be wired in but I'm sure someone else will be able to confirm that.

I thought with any of the high performance transmissions that you buy come vacuum modulated so you don't need to tie it in with the computer?
That sounds like a serious combination. I'd retro the 80 in and use either vacuum, or better still, a manual valvebody. The computer seems to have a hand in the early demise of more than a few 60s 'round here. Just my 2c.
