Source of Transmission fluid leak?
Okay guys, i need somebody to tell me what this hose is. I noticed my car has been leaking transmission fluid (again) and so i found where it is coming from. There is a hose running down from the transmission that then runs on the torque arm and fits in a bracket on the torque arm itself. From there, the hose just stops (it looks like mine was broken or cut!) and there is also a little hose running off of the main one, with some sort of valve on the end. I have no idea what this is, but i can tell you i have fluid dripping out of the end that looks like it was cut. I snapped a quick picture with my camera phone so sorry for the quality.

The only thing I can thing of is a vent tube. There is a vent tube on the very top of the trans. I dont know about Fbodies, but mine has a hard line with a rubber line on the end of it that goes into a T fitting. One hose from that T goes off in the engine somewhere and the other goes to a vent tube that fixates to the frame on my car. The only thing I can think of that would make that leak (if thats really what it is) is an overfill or a plugged line somewhere creating pressure and backing the fluid up and out of the tube.

Hmm this could be what it is then, since i just recently filled up my transmission with fluid. The transmission cooler line that runs to the top of my radiator blew apart, so i lost all of my transmission fluid on the street. I filled it back up with 11 quarts, but there may have been some fluid left in the car that is getting forced out of this tube. Strange though, cause the way it's designed (if this is what it's purpose is for) causes it to drip all over the torque arm...
