Depends on your goals. I've only ever run Yanks and I've had great success with them. The SS series is a great street/strip converter that hits hard out of the hole and has excellent street manners, plus it'll handle the spray all day long. With your 3.73's I'd suggest you look into the SS4000. Top it off with a 3-year warranty, and you'll see why they are among the top selling LSX converters. There are many, many happy SS-series owners on these forums.

I don't have personal experience with any other converter manufacturers, but based on reviews I've seen on this site, I'd also suggest Circle D and Vigilante as viable alternatives.

Not necessarily....anything will be better than stock. However, some stalls have better topend than others for sure. My example: I had the SS4000, and it was really a great converter, but I wanted more topend. It wasn't bad, but I knew it could be better. I stepped up to the PT4400 and it has significantly more topend. On the flip side, the higher stall lost some driveability. It wasn't much, and it wasn't enough to bother me at all, but there's always a trade off. So a higher stall can be faster, but this may not always be the case. It has a lot to do with the STR and shift extension as well. Higher STR will generally equate to more hit out of the hole, a tighter feel for everyday driving, and less efficiency up top. Once again however, this isn't always the case. The best thing you can do is talk to the converter companies and tell them what you want. They'll recommend the best option for your goals.

Hard to tell without knowing what series you bought. Try to find out which model it is.....PT, SS, etc.
