What can I do???
I have a 97 trans am. I am doing a motor swap. So I decided to put in a new transmission at the same time. Well the problem is that I bought a rebuilt 4l60e that was a trans out of a van. I spoke with a couple trans shops before the purchase and they said all I had to do was swap the tailshaft housing so the bracket from the torqe arm could be connected. Well now the engine and trans is out and and the new trans has 6 bolts holding the tail shaft to the case and the one old one only has 4. Also shaft that is comming out 4 the shifter of the new trans is longer. Anyone have any idea what my options are?
You got a bolt on bell unit, Do you know what year the van was?
As long as its a pre 98 you can still use it but you will need a tail housing from a 98 up F body.
The linkage shaft is easy just swap it from your old transits self explainitory once you remove the pan
