Driving in D or OD?
Driving in D or OD? Well i just finished hearing that it is bad to drive in OD in the city. I would normally put my A4 in OD and drive like that all the time except when i was going to race, then i would put it in D. I hear that it is bad for the tranny in the long run to be driving in OD in the city. So now i am confused on if we our supposed to drive in D in the city and only put it into OD on the highway? What do you guys think or do? Thanks
Re: Driving in D or OD? I only had 123and D never saw OD on the console. I had a 99 T/A though. So the D was also OD. I always drove it on D. When I took it to the track I put it in 3rd.

Why? It's only going to go into 4th when you're at a proper speed to do so. I just run it in OD all the time...even when racing.

FWIW, Speculations and "I just heard..." have started more false thinking and downright wrong information on this and other boards that it has been difficult, at times, for the truth to be accepted.
There as sooo many myths about our 4L60Es running around that it'd take an hour or more to list them and then explain what the real story is.
It does't help when someone who says they work for this or that dealership/garage comes on here and gives incorrect information.
Not everyone has access to GM Tech manuals on everything. When you go to some of the others, you often get wrong/bad/mis-information.
I have had this happen many times when I had to use an 'aftermarket' manual on my '69 Mach1, '68 Javelin, etc.
