Question differences between th350/400 and 700r4

..If you got an opinion lemme hear it....please......
Hey guys got a friend willing to give me a steal of a deal on on s-10 already setup for v8, all i need to do is get a motor and tranny. im looking at an lsx based engine w/ carb conversion and then im not sure about the tranny. I tore up 3 4l60's in my old silverado with one being somewhat built. i know the 700 is an OD tranny however i need something that will stand up to daily driving and my beating on it day to day, also ability to rebuild and expense of rebuild would come into play as well, i mean heck eventually im gonna tear it up right??? final horsepower goal for the truck is around 350-400 rwhp, so let me know what you guys think....Thanks,

Bryan

The 700 is just as expensive to build as the 4l60. I havent had good luck with 700s, but I'm sure they can be built right. If you do a lot of highway driving, DAILY, I wouldnt go 350/400. You lose the O.D., and trust me, it sucks! Especially if you put a 2500 stall and 373 gears. They can be built stronger, cheaper... But if your going 400 ponies, a built 4L60, or 700 will hold up. My opinion!

A built 4l60e or 700r4 would be the best deal. While the 400 would be cheap enough the saving would be very quickly eliminated by the additional gas us. Particularly when gas goes back up and it will as the economy improves trust me.
