Default Strange tranny problem

For the past month I have had a strange problem with my A4. If im going down a hill on the highway and get off the gas the tranny will just free rev like it is neutral, I would have to give it a couple quick revs to get it to come back. If I stay on the gas while going down the hill its fine and wont slip or unlock? Fluid is up were it needs to be also.

normally when you let off the throttle the converter will unlock and in OD position the input sprag will freewheel. So you would get somewhat of a shift to neutral feel. Or is there something more i am not understanding
