Save your money and get a good converter. You're only going to be wasting you money since you'll soon want to upgrade anyway.

TCI makes some dandy converters for only $450-550.

A modded stock 300mm converter quickly loses its efficiency once you exceed 2600 stall. Most 2600 stall converters give you 2-3 tenths gain. For a few hundred more, you can drop a total of 5-6 tenths. You're wasting your money on a modded stocker only because you'll want to swap it out for something better in no time.

A converter is the best mod for an A4. Dont cut corners here. You will pick up .2 with the restalled stocker. BUT and a big BUT yoou will get 0 shift extension. 0. Thats were the converter really shines in my opinion. Plus your leaving 3 tenths on the table. You wont find a cheaper way to pick up a half second. Just do it and you will be very happy.

I drive my Z28 with a PT4000 everyday.....

Just depends on the person....Try to find someone in your local area to give you a ride, or let you test drive their stalled car....

Waste of money in MHO. As was stated you'll lose efficiency and gain no shift extension. Go bigger and with a reputeable company. No you'll not lose driveability. I too run a PT4000 and though I don't I could drive mine everyday.

A 3000-3500 stall is actually MORE streetable than a stock converter, IMO. It's an opinionated thing. I wouldn't own an LS1 powered car without at least a 3200 stall.

Ok man you want your car to be a good daily driver yet you are gonna waste money on getting the stock verter restalled. Get a TCI SSF 3500 and you will be a happy man. Like Colonel said, a 3500 stall will actually help your driveability. Also the converter locks up around 45mph and you will be seeing the same RPM as stock. Be smart man and dont waste ur money on a restalled stocker.

Yeah THANKS YOU ALL FOR YOUR SUPPORT.Well i think i shouldnt get the modified stocker one.Because probaly i gona want more power later in the future.I asked the torque convertor guy today and he told me the best way to select your stall is Acoording to your cam lift and rear gearsETC.Is this true.I have no internal engind modifications. Will a 3000ish stall still be OK?I wish i had 2 cars but i only have my ol trusty Ls1 lion.

Yea man I still would go with atleast a 3500 stall b/c later on down the road you will want a higher stall. The TCI 3500 is damn near perfect for the street and strip. The guy you talked to is right, the TC gets you into your cam's power band. Good Luck man, Keep us updated.

I run a Vig 2800 which stalls to 3200 on my Daily Driver with no problems. Remember it will lock up like stock @ 40 mph. So highway mileage will stay the same.

One reason not to modified the stocker is is won't be as efficient. Aftermarket ones are smaller in diameter. Which in itself give you a higher stall but keeps it efficient.

Don't get anything lower than a 3000 stall.

Hey a old thread that i started. I ended up getting the vig3800 awhile ago. Now i wish i had a little bigger one might have to use my free restall. One of the best mods i done. Going with the vig 3800 didnt effect daily driving at all. I was planning on going with the 2800 first but went with the 3800 i am glad that i did this because the bigger stall came in handy after i started modding.
