4l60e question I have a 93 (dec build date) chevy 1/2 ton with 4l60e trans that makes growling sound in every gear except Drive. It just started with no warning on day when I went to drive it. First, Any ideas, 120k on trans, fluid good and doesn't slip etc. Second, what other bolt in 4l60e trans can I use and out of what vehicle, thanks.

There are a few choices for those years between 93 and 96 depending on the engine. Grinding noises usually mean a gear set or hard part failure. Consequently there will be debris in the bottom pan. If possible remove the pan and inspect it.
If your looking for a direct bolt in from a salvage yard it will need to be a 93-94 truck unit. the later years can be moded to work through 97 with some valve body and electronics changes.
