Smile 4l60e question

I have a 93 (dec build date) chevy 1/2 ton with 4l60e trans that makes growling sound in every gear except Drive. It just started with no warning on day when I went to drive it. First, Any ideas, 120k on trans, fluid good and doesn't slip etc. Second, what other bolt in 4l60e trans can I use and out of what vehicle, thanks.

There are a few choices for those years between 93 and 96 depending on the engine. Grinding noises usually mean a gear set or hard part failure. Consequently there will be debris in the bottom pan. If possible remove the pan and inspect it.

If your looking for a direct bolt in from a salvage yard it will need to be a 93-94 truck unit. the later years can be moded to work through 97 with some valve body and electronics changes.
You might consider looking at out website at our heavy hauler series.
