Default No drive!

Hey, i'm from the uk and recently put a 98' corvette engine and box into an off road racer, engine is mint, runs well. Only problem is that i can't get the bloody thing moving!

The box has been mounted directly to the engine (by the U.S scrapyard i bought the unit from), unlike the corvette which i understand is in the rear of the car via a torque tube. I have had the box off and checked correct fitment of the torque converter - ok. Have double checked the wiring and it still won't drive. Even with the full weight of the car on a ramp and the wheels in the air, there isn't even a hint of movement???

Any ideas? Any help would be greatly appreciated as i want to make the next race!

Here's a pic of the engine in situ!

Cheers.

Well I am curious the 98 trans would have and lt-1 style input shaft and the engine would need a LSX style converter and bell housing. So I am betting on a missmatch!
I am betting they put the normal LSX bell on the corevette trans assuming they used the covette trans and if so the LT-1 STYLE CONVERTER they used would be pulled to far forward and not engage the pump.
Some pictures of all of it would be helpfull but that would be my guess since original corvette bell would not be able to bolt directly to the engine.

Cheers for the reply, i'll try and get some pics up, i had a feeling that it may have been something to do with the way the gearbox had been fitted. I'm not too familiar with american cars so i didn't really know what to look for!

P.s, is an lsx a transmission model or a model of car? Like i say, not too handy with american motors!

Cheers!

That looks like an 01 corvette case. "1YDD" is what it looks like on the tag of the transmission. I'll bet you do not have a fill hole for the dipstick by the cooler line fittings? I think you definitely have a mismatch not only with the input shaft, bell housing, stator and converter but also the case. The case you have was meant to be bolted to a differential. With just bolting a tail housing to it, you will not have the proper lube for the extension housing. Sorry to say this but you need to start over with getting the correct transmission for what you are looking to do. Vince

I would agree with vince after seeing that you need the whole trans thats set up to work correctly with your setup .

Seeing as you have your vehicle set up for the current configuration, I would look for a 2wd truck unit or a unit for GTO. If the long linkage shaft is not an issue for you then look for a unit for a Fbody. Vince
