Angry Why Does my car Suck from a roll?

Ok here is the deal. I own a 99 z28 A4 with lid, borla pro xs exhaust, Yank ST3500, 3.42 motive gears. My car is originally a 2.73 car and it would take off beautiful from a roll with the 2.73 gears, then I swapped them for some 3.42's and It made my race from a roll just really bite, well i installed the converter and the roll sucks even more it just unlocks and pulls so all the stock m6's pull on me and they wouldn't do that when i had the 2.73's??? what could this be?

Probable because your car is not downshifting with those gears like it would with the 273s. With 273s it would downshift to first gear from I beleive 38mph , now it probable only downshifts to second gear. Just guessing myself, I did the same swap and my car sucks from a roll but then again Im not much of a roll ricer , everytime i have lost from a roll they would never race me from a dead stop, kinda makes you wonder about that HUH. PS a stick car should pull on you that converter of yours is designed for punch out the hole.

You need some downshift point programming.

Ditto Colonel, my car is hellacious from a roll. Do you have a programmer?? If you have a predator it would really helped. When I installed my predator tune after my 3.73s it downshifted perfectly. I think my 1st gear runs all the way to 44 with the 3.73s so you should see somewhere around 50mph with your 3.42s. Good Luck man

I had the hpp3 but it made my car run worse even without the power tuning and it made my tranny go wack sometimes I wouldn't have overdrive and my shift points were out of whack!

when you use a HPP3 or such you can not turn up your line pressuse if you do your tranny will not live very long and will go whacko .. Edit will work fine but if you have a 99 or newer i think a Predator is the best bet .

I agree that you should not mess with line pressure settings too much...did a lot more bad than good in my car at least. A converter with more shift extention will also help when racing from a roll.

I really didn't mess with the line pressure too much, and the hpp3 wasn't working for my car so I sold it, so u guys thing that predator is the best bet for my car? about predator a couple of friends of mine have theirs left over afte they sold their cars. Is it true that you they can send the diablo back and get it reflashed to work on another vehicle?

The only programmer worth it is the diablo. Since they don't make them for 98's, you should look at ls1 edit. If you don't have a laptop, you can always pick up a used one for as little as 150 bux.
