Default 4L60E Question...

Can a Built 4L60E work in any year of F-body if I had one ?

Say will it work for a 2001 if the transmission was originally for a 1998 or 1999 ???

They should all be pretty interchangable LS1 F-body to LS1 F-body. The LT1's used a different input shaft, and the C5's and trucks with Gen III motors (4.8, 5.3, etc) also use a different input shaft. There were some very minor updates in 2001 with the valvebody but I think that's about it. I'm pretty sure all LS1 4L60E's had the 13 vane pump from the factory also, I know my 2000 did.

I guess you're thinking of buying a used trans from an earlier car?

I'm gonna try to revive an old thread here, and put a twist on it.
I've got an older sbc that I would like to put a late model ls1-style 4l60e behind it, or at least know what it takes. You mention the different input shafts, is it a spline difference, or a fore/aft issue? Can this be remedied simply by using the appropriate converter? Will I need a different flywheel as well? I would especially like to hear if anybody has successfully accomplished this! I see them on ebay and on here, but I'm hesistant to bid/buy until I know I can make it work without buying a $1000 converter/flywheel combo! Thanks to all
