Default Transmission temp guage

I was wanting to install a tranny temp guage in my center air vent. What type of guage should i get and where does the sending unit go?

You can put the sending unit before the cooler and see temp comming out of the trans or after the cooler to see cooled fluid temp. I'd think you would want it before the cooler though.

Yeah i would figure i would want it as close to the tranny as possible to get the most accurate readings. Has anybody put one in and wired it into one of the center vent holes?

Yes lots of people put gauges in the center vent holes in the Trans ams. The gauge that fits that you need to buy is a 2 5/8" gauge, not the 2 1/16".

I always just put my sender in the pressure port on the side of the trans, the port is already there and the sender that comes with the gauge fits right in with any adapters or anything, just thread it in and run your signal wire down to it. Its very simple. Just remember if you do this your temps on the gauge will read just a little higher than the actual fluid is, probably 15 degrees or so higher.
