Shifter Rattle..

Shifter Rattle.. I searched and only found a couple threads where it seemed as if guys had the same problem but never knew where it was coming from..
Anyways, I recently purchased my '98 Z and lately upon acceleration in low RPM's the shifter rattles against the damn plastic shields that move along with it when switching gears..
I am thinking of getting a rubber grommet and cutting it to fit around the shifter and slide down by the plastic.. OR just clean up the shifter and throw some electrical tape around the area that contacts the plastic to stop the annoying rattle.
Anybody else ever had this problem and have a good fix for it?
