If proper steps are taken your trans should be fine. Definitely invest in a cooler, heat is the number 1 killer of a trans. Then look into a shift kit, or at least hypertech you shift firmness as hard as you can. The firmer shifts will actually help your trans life. The insidesof an auto are a lot like the clutch on an M6, the faster and harder you shift it the longer the clutch lasts....I've made a stock clutch last well over 100K, just by being on and off the clutch as fast as possible. And last is make sure you have good fluid in the trans, just like engine oil it does need to be replaced periodically. If you do maintenance and a little bit of care and a stock trans will go a long way, even behind a modded motor.

Well I have a 3800 in my SS, works just fine, been in for 30k+ miles, large tranny cooler. My buddies Z has a vig 3200, large tranny cooler, been driving it 3 years and not easy on it at all, works just fine. I just put a 3600 on my DD, but I had also invested in a large tranny cooler 2 years ago, it seems to be working just fine so far. Put a 100 miles on it last night without any issues. Probably just jinx'd myself. I say get a large cooler for the tranny and you should be fine.
I have a Yank 2800 mildly moded lt1 cam headers etc, 113k stock tranny about 50 pass with n2o and the converter has been in the car for about 70k.
Like said above big cooler and change fluid.

I had a 3500 stall put in at about 80k, with no problems, and I'm at 153k now. I did have a good cooler installed too, so that is probably why my stock internal tranny has lasted so long. It still grabs 2nd, with no slips at WOT. I get the fluid flushed about once a year too.
