Default Must the trans be pulled to install a shift kit?

Hi all,

I've searched hi and low on this forum and others and I hear mixed results about whether or not the transmission has to be pulled (4l60e in a '99 TA) to install a transgo HD2 shift kit.

So if anyone has done this mod, could you tell me what is involved aside from the valvebody work?

I'd like to do a cooler, then shift kit, then TC, but I'd like to do them in three stages. If i have to pull the tranny I'll wait until I can afford it at once and do it altogether.

Thank you!

Yes, you must remove the trans to install the hi-rev springs. Most people it seems skip on that part. Other than the 2-4 servo, all the work is in the pan.

So is it dangerous to not do that part then and there? Or can I wait until I do the TC to put those parts in?

Theres no problem leaving them out till it's time for a rebuild.

Wait until you have your TC installed and when the tranny is out, then do the full HD-2 install. This is the pathway to maximum happiness.

I'd also upgrade the 3-4 clutches while it's apart and usually put in an upgraded sunshell.

Id just tune for firmer shifts and say **** the hd-2 until you are ready to buid the trans up.

Read over the instructions and decide if it's right for you.
