i have a 96 TA (auto). im not sure if this is normal, but lets say im cruising at about 35mph in overdrive and i hit the gas to about 80% throttle. the trans will shift down to 3 and pull for a second, then it will shift into 2 and continue pulling. it seems like the trans should just go from overdrive right to 2, while skipping 3rd? i know if i go WOT it'll downshift right to 2nd. i know nothing about transmissions, maybe its supposed to do this? im not sure. thanks.

 

Its just doing what the PCM is telling it sounds normal to me, Some tuning can tweek that in a more favorable way.

 

alright cool. just making sure my trans isn't starting to go. she still shifts hard and firm, with no slippage.
