1-2 Accumulator Question (4L60)

I have an LT1 4L60 ('94 Vette) that had a slow/stuttering 1-2 shift at WOT and pulled the pan to check the 1-2 accumulator. After taking the housing off, the piston was very difficult to depress and did not want to come out. After getting the piston out, there did not appear to be any scarring on the walls of the housing, and after removing the o-ring the piston moved freely in and out and didn't seem to bind.
Is there anything else to check ? I couldn't see any reason for the piston to bind in the housing other than a bad o-ring. Is there any specific type of o-ring that I need to replace it with ?

I would be more inclined to think you either have a presure issue at WOT or a burned/failing band

Thanks for the response. I didn't think it was the band as it didn't seem to slip at all in gear and shifts fine at any other throttle position, but it may be due for a service.
With the accumulator housing off, how easy should the piston be to depress ? It seemed like it would stick in the housing and didn't want to come all the way back up.

It has fluid presure pushing from both sides so manual feel is for the most part iirelivant

Thanks for the reply, I was hoping that it would be something simple like an accumulator problem, but it seems like the accumulator is probaly ok. I'll get the pan back on and get it to a shop.

One last question: is there anywhere that I can buy/order just the accumulator piston seal ? It seems like you have to buy an entire rebuild kit for one $.25 seal.
