Trans or tune problem?

Ok I have a 02 ss and had a 3000 converter in it. A torque converter bolt came out and hit the flexplate and block. So I put a new flexplate and put a tci3500 converter in it. Trans works fine but when it is in drive going down the road, when I kick it, it hits rev limiter and stays there a lil before taking off and sometimes it is like it stays between gears for a second. Does it need to be tuned for the higher stall or does it have a trans problem?

Alls you can do is raise the rev limiter and maybe speed up the shifts (lower the #'s).
