How much horsepower can stock transmission clutches take before slipping?

i was told by a tranny mechanic that happens to work on chevy's, that the stock tranny is supposed to hold almost 500 horses... but i doubt it, usually depends on what the car has modded

Very difficult to answer. Depends on the tune, driving habits, weight and luck. I would say anything over 400 gets questionable and over 500 is living on borrowed time.

Ok...just wondering my...tranny builder put stock 1st and 2nd gears in it and 3rd and 4th are high performance....idk why he told me after i installed it so i didnt worry about taken it out...i put down 432 to the wheels thats why im kinda worried...
