Hi guys im building a 408 stroker from a bare block. Plan on putting it into a 85 short wide bed chevy truck. I need some info on what tranny to use. Probably gonna run about 650 in the horsepower range. would love to have overdrive but want a quick truck of the line too. Thanks fror any help.

 

the best bet would be a 4l80e. but it is also the most expensive route. you can try your luck with a built 4l60e but its up to you. but most will say with that power in a truck you will want the 4l80e

 

twich , so what is the expensive part. THe 4l80e would be a direct hook up to a 6.0l right. And the wiring shouldnt be that difficult. You mean just the cost of a 4l80e tranny.
