Default 700r4 no 3rd ?

hi
My c1500 truck has suddenly lost 3rd and overdrive. 1st and 2nd gear is fine when it changes up into 3rd its like it engaged netural no drive. Trans fluid looks and smells fine. Any ideas ?

You have experienced a 3-4 clutch failure. With a neutral condition this is the only thing that comes to mind that will cause this. Vince B

Was afraid it was box hoping it might of been the electrionics !! Thanks for the advise.

I've lost two transmissions in my 88 Silverado in the last year just like this. What usually causes a 3-4 clutch failure? I think in my case I'm leaking transmission fluid.

Low fliud will cause it and comonly on the 700r4 a misajusted TV cable will cause it quick
