Default YUP, its lucky me again with a STRANGE problem...............

My VIG 3600 broke a few months ago and took out my tranny pump.

I got a new VIG 3200 and a new tranny pump installed into my FLP IV tranny.

As soon as I took it for the first ride the converter felt looser than my 3600 BY FAR.

But the tranny shifted fine and everything seemed good otherwise.

Then, maybe 2 weeks later, I'm doing about 60 mph as I get off the HWY, take my foot off the gas and coast. When I hit about 45 mph with my foot still off the gas I downshift from OD into #2 (like I often do), NOTHING AT ALL HAPPENS. Zero manual downshift. I then reach about 15mph and put it into #1, and NOTHING again.

So right now I have zero manual downshifting in any gear at any speed. But if I still have my foot on the gas and downshift it will very slopily get a rise in rpm, but if I apply more gas it slips and doesn't hook up for a couple seconds.

If I'm sitting at a light and take off in #3 normally the tranny seems to be normal, although a little slow on the shifting.

Any ideas? A new vacuum hose was just put on and nothing changed.

So how do you get it back in 1st??? Are you saying you have no ENGINE BRAKING in 1st or 2nd ??? or no 1st and 2nd gear??? i.e. if you subsequently coast to a stop, then take off, what gear (if any) are you in???

I know the overrun/coast clutches figure in this (used in engine braking) , and also one of the sprag clutches if I remember off the top of my head right??? Ask Kevin Winstead, he'd know for sure....

I'm not so sure you've caught all the damage yet from your other incident

When I leave my driveway and put it in 3 to drive around the city streets, as I accelerate things feel pretty normal. If I'm cruising at say 45mph in 3 and take my foot off the gas to stop at a light it does its proper downshifting by itself, so when I take off again from the light I'm in 1st and everything seems pretty normal while its upshifting.

But if I'm in 3 and cruising at 45mph and I take my foot off the gas to coast, and pull the stick into #2, nothing at all happens, the rpms don't budge. If I pull it back into #1 at 45mph, again, absolutely nothing happens. There is simply ZERO manual downshifting. But it does it by itself as I slow to a stop, because every time I take off its in 1st.

Now, if I'm cruising steady at 45mph with my foot still on the gas and I pull it back to #2 the rpms will sluggishly rise (they don't shoot up quick and immediate like normal), then after the rpms have risen up like they should and I apply a little extra gas, it just spins freely and doesn't grab for a few seconds while the motor is revving. Once it grabs, its normal again. I can even cruise at say 45mph, lift my foot a tad bit, reapply like I'm revving it in "park" and it will just rev up and down without catching.

Also, no matter what gear I'm in (3 or D) and cruising steady, if I slightly lift my foot off the pedal and reapply I'll get some free spin for a second or two before it catches back in.

If I do a decent run from like 30-90mph the motor sounds all jacked up but it just isn't really going like it should.

My factory tranny and the FLP have been identical for 5 1/2 years in there operation, know its totally wacked out.
