Default Best aftermarket Tranny

Hey All

I am looking to replace my tranny. I had it rebuilt less than 5k ago by a local transmission place and it blew again. They went out of business last month so I have to either find another local guy to mess it up or buy a one from the sponsers to the right.

I have a TCI 3500 2.5str w/ cooler.

Which one would you buy if you had $1800 to spend?

I've had good luck with my Yank, but getting a shop close to home seems important to me. I realize your guys went out of business, but if you have problems with a mail order tranny, you may have a hard time or delays in getting warranty service because of shipping times, shipping costs, and the fact that many builders want to inspect any damage to determine if the cause was defect or installation/programming problems. If you have been through 2 trannies on a 2001 and have low mileage or don't flog the car a lot, your programming or other factors may be contributing to the tranny's short life.

Not everyone needs to deal with having only 3 gears.

The only reason why a 400rwhp or less car would break 4L60Es in short order would be improper building and/or over-abuse by the driver/owner.

I might get on my car to pass, but I wouldnt call that abuse, lol

Would a stock pcm cause premature tranny death?
