Question 4L60E durability question

How many of you have had problems with the sun gear shaft breaking? Just wondering if a fix needs to be researched.
Thanks, any input is greatly appreciated.

I believe you are talking about the reverse drum. It attatches to the "sun gear". It strips or breaks and 2nd, 4th, and reverse will not work. The replacement is called "The Beast". It is an option when repairing the trans. They have been out for a long time. A stock piece can still be used if the vehicle is not going to be "played with". Hope this helps.

Thank you, but the sun gear shaft splines into the rear carrier. I've seen a few cracked and twisted off. Just wondering how common this in today's high horsepower applications.
