Lightbulb Cam/Converter question

I am under the impression you want your converter to stall speed to be at or near your torque peak. Opinions?

Would you rather have the torque peak higher in the range to be just below where the revs drop to after a shift?

I am looking for this information as I plan on ordering a converter soon and a cam later this winter. Would like to know what to get well in advance.

Tentatively planning on a TCI SSF 3500. Trying to figure which cam will go best with this converter.

thanks

I am looking into that exact converter too. I was planning on either the g5x1 or the g5x2 as my cam I want to put in.

Smokin how would this setup work?

I think you might want a little more stall with that cam, maybe a TCI SSF 3800 or the Yank SS 4000. I would think you would want your Torque Peak near your shift extenison for maximum preformance. Good Luck

I plan on running a NOS5177 most likely set to 100. Maybe 125 after a slight fuel system upgrade(for safety).

I want a good flat torque curve for streetability.

Heads later:Waiting for info on the AFR heads

Waiting for info on the LSX

Just wondering what the opinions are on a cams operation range in relation to the stall speed and shift extensions of a converter.

i was under the impression that you want your stall to be right at your peak tq for 2 reasons...first off the line hit as if you can break stall to like 4000rpms and your peak tq is at 4000 like it is in my car you will be right in the sweet spot to launch at...the other thing is having a converter with shift extensions where you want them...to keep you in the powerband...the stock extension might be to 3500...im not sure just an example but if your only pushing 180hp and 280ftlbs at that rpm thats not where youd want to be...most have extensions over 5000 rpms cuz at that point in my car im pushing 285hp and still around 300ftlbs so the car is deep in the powerband.

Question on the vertor matching Power Band issue.
Wont the Dyno be a little skewed if I ran it with my current Yank 3000 stall? So basically the peak might be a little different or is so trivial it doesnt matter much?
