differnce between 4l60e and a 4l60 transmission

Default differnce between 4l60e and a 4l60 transmission

i have a 97 suburban transmission went out bought one out of a 97 tahoe transmission whats the differnce between 4l60 and a 4l60e trans and will they bolt up and electrical work

4L60E is electronically controlled, it uses solenoids to shift.. A 4L60 is just an upgrades version of the 700r4... they will not interchange what so ever

GM changed the name of the transmission in the early 90's the 700R became the 4l60 later when it went electronic it became the 4l60e 4speed, Longitudinally mounted,6000#'s rating Electronic controlled.

Later in the earliy 2000's GM dropped the e on everything since everything is now electrical now anyway 4l65,4l70 4l80 6l80/90 etc.

These two vehicles would have the same trans both would be the 4l60E and will swap even as long as both are 2wd
