Default 80E/Converter/flexplate ?

My new fully built 80E started losing 2nd with only 100 mi on the clock. Looked like a lot of clutch material in the fluid. It has been shipped off and torn down and I am told that the problem appears to have been caused by pump wear due to excess pressure transmitted to it through the TC. It has been suggested that that possibly the flexplate is distorting(TCI billet SFI) or the TC (PI Vig 60E front to 80E back style) may be out of spec or distorted.

Before I call PI.........Comparison of before and after pics of the TC hub show little difference other than some wear at the contact patches(shiny area) on the sides. Any signs that the TC was ever pushing into the pump? Would the wear on the flats be further down the hub if this was happening? I don't have another 80E converter to compare to.

Can a billet A36 plate distort enough to cause a problem without showing any signs of stress? Would a 4340 plate of the same thickness be that much better?
