Default 4x4 4l60e in 2nd gen

I read through the FAQ's and tried doing some searching as well. I also searched on google. What I found was people saying that to convert a 4x4 4l60e to be like a 2wd 4l60 you need to change the output shaft. To do this you need to take the transmission apart and its a big PIA. I'm looking at doing a 5.3 LSX swap with a 4l60e, problem is that all the 4L60e's within 300 miles are 4x4 versions. There is only one 2wd but the owner wants $1200. I was wondering since I'm going to have to get the driveshaft shortened does it matter if I use the 4x4 trans? Or are there other implications that i'm not considering. There are 4l60e's with less than 60k on them for under $300 and rebuilt ones for $700 but they are for 4x4 applications.
