I think this could be the beginning of a transmission problem.
Car:2001 Pontiac Trans Am. Stock automatic transmission. couple of bolt ons and a mild cam.
Problem: I recently got back from a deployment to Iraq. The car had been stored. I probably have made some bad decisions but the fluid was left in and hasn't been changed out yet, yet the levels and color all seem fine.
Anyway, I was just using it until I got ahold of my daily driver, and it was strictly being used for business until it got tuned. After bringing it up to 80 a couple of times I decided it'd be fun to go WOT. To make a long story short, it reminded me of when my clutch was wearing out on my modified B16. It was slipping. The engine was revving but the car or speedometer were not going anywhere.
This happened to me one other time before. I think it's only in first gear. Any idea what it could be? I was soon planning on a stall/gears/tranny cooler but am not about to invest that into a tranny that might be going. The car has under 80k miles.
EDIT: The car's previous owner kept it stock and no signs of wear anywhere. It was babied. I don't track it and only the occasional exhibition of speed.

I would try changing the fluid out, erasing the pcm and taking a nice long drive before doing anything else even getting a diagnosis. My 4l60E has seen 1 rear seal, an exsternal cooler installed, a diablo tune, and regular 50k Amsoil fluid and screen changes, it still shifts hard, dose not slip and has no leaks @167k mi.and I have made more than a few 1/4 and 1/8 mi. passes, do the cheap stuff first.
