Default Converter Help

I'm trying to decide on a new stall speed b/c in mid Jan, I'm sending my converter back to PI to be cut, cleaned, and re-stalled. Converter is currently rated 2800 (vigilante). 26'' tire, 3.50 rear, 3600# w/driver. Stock bottom end LS1 so rev limiter is 6800. I'm looking for the best of both worlds n/a and n2o stall speed. 450rwhp n/a, 650rwhp n20. The car is real soft out of the hole n/a and after the shifts n/a (231/237 on 112lsa cam). I'm thinking 4000, but am looking for a few educated opinions to make sure this isn't too much before I send the converter out. Please no uneducated responses. Racers that wrench your own rides (10's or quicker) and sponsors only please.

i think having it stalled to 3600 would be about right! (a 3600 stall will flash to around 4000 with a vig, in my experience)

do you have dyno sheets for nitrous and NA?????

I do have dyno sheets from both n/a and n2o, but don't think that's going to help decide stall speed. I'm pretty stuck on 4k. I guess I'll send PI the info on my car and let them advise. 3600 should work great, but will it leave anything on the table is the question in my head. Will I blow through a 4k vig is the other question in my mind.

dyno sheets would provide the info for selecting a stall... you will be able to see where you start to make power and thats what your stall should be.

if you get a triple dick lock converter you wont slip... mine was a single disk and it slipped because i was making to much power for it.

IF you talk to your converter builder they will get you setup... if they dont ask ALOT of questions about your exact setup dont buy a converter from them. They should ask for exact specs of your setup.

The single or multi disk will not matter since "most" recommend not to lock the converter under WOT.

The 2800 stall you have will not be able to simply be re-stalled that much from my experience. We have been told about 500 rpm from the original build when we have sent a converter to Vig for a cut, clean and re-stall.

I would say around 3600-4000 with your setup and a 28" tire. I run an SS4000, 28" DR and 3.42 in my dads car which makes similar power, weighs 3600ish and it works great on both motor and spray

1.46 NA
1.42 N20 with window switch set at 4200

you should see some nice gains with a new stall
