4l60e rebuild
I have been told it it the 3-4 cluthes. paid $1300 first time. I think its absolutly stupid to pay that much again if its gonna go out in 15000 miles again. I wanna know whats the harm in rebilding it myself? i have heard you have to have computer setup to check valves but that was from a transmission sevice place. if someone has done this pls let me knowThank you for all information

A tranny is not quite as easily rebuilt by a novice as easily as a engine. There are quite a few specialized tools that are only for transmissions and specific models. You cut a seal and not notice before finishing rebuild and then you take a chance on burning up a fresh rebuild.
I would not suggest learning to rebuild your own tranny without having a experienced builder there.
You can save yourself some money by pulling tranny yourself and taking it in for a rebuild and then reinstalling.
And don't even think about firing car up until that tranny is completely full of ATF. A 4l60e will not tolerate being low on fluid.
Good luck!
