Default Transmission gearing

I am putting a, besides an exhaust and tune, a stock lq4 into my 98 chevy truck. Now I want a 4l80e cause the strenght but I like the 4l65e cause of the gear ratios. You think there will be a much noticeable difference in performance cause of the different gear ratios on these trans? With the 65 i'd get more low end accel, and better mileage cause of the smaller 4th gear ratio. Thanks guys. Oh and if I went with a 65, I hear lots of ppl saying they won't handle a lq4, you think the 65 will handle 400hp max, and towing maybe 8000lbs max?

An 80 would obviously be the stronger of the two transmissions. I feel that a built 65 will work just fine for what you are planning on doing. At 400hp you should still be able to stay with the 60 series transmission. Feel free to give Andy a call at the shop to go over your options if we can be of help. Vince
