???~m6 to th400 why or why not~???
I just aquired a TH400 recently and i am debating wether or not i want to put it in the car. I am having stock master cylinder problems right now an i am thinking about getting rid of the 6-speed totally, but the only thing is i drive this car daily an i still do roll racing so i am trying to decide what i'm going to do about this debate? I love the six speed because i have no issues with perfect shifting, but i know this 408 is gonna murder the T-56 when the bottle gets installed.... Any information about this TH400 that it takes to get it into a f-body that i should know would help me out alot guys thank you.

Auto swaps are pretty simple. Especially if you go to non computer controlled trans like the turbo 400. I did 4l80 swap and am very happy with it. I was running a tex twin and while pedal pressure was pretty light it really wasn't super friendly for daily driving.
Now heavy traffic is almost fun,no more missed shifts, shortshifts,3 to 2 worries, no more slaves, masters, clutch swapping, drill mods, clutch bleeding. I did want computer controlled trans and overdrive so went with the 4l80. Even a stock 4l80 is pretty strong. I went to built one but am looking for 800 to 1000rwhp on my build possibly more later.
But seriously the 4l80 swap was pretty simple and as said turbo 400 would be even more so.There are some guys running pretty big power thru even stock t56s incidentally.
Its a pretty strong trans. But i don't really miss mine. Had t56 96ta,97 ta and my 99ta. But getting old and starting to appreciate the auto. Actually a paddle shifting 6l80 would be really nice too but can wait to get that in my next car.

Im getting redy to go TH400 and 12 bolt with 4.11s in my daily driver, I think it should be fun, I like my 6 speed and I make power through it I just cant put it to the ground on the street that whys I'm swapping. You'd be suprised what buse a T56 can relly hndle, I've seen plenty of 408 T56 cars that run good and most on stock trannys. The TH400 swap is real easy in these car like mentioned above its not computer controlled like a 4L60 or 4L80 trans, everything is manual on them.

3.42 would be pretty good with a decent stall. Even 3.23 .Lots of FI guys run 3.08s with pretty good top end potential and again with a decent stall not bad off the line.
Or consider and add on overdrive. But then again a stock 4l80e will work pretty good for most people.

I woudn't be going to 4.11 unless you want a really low top speed .

Im in the process of doing mine right now...just need to lift the trans up in there. If you do it the right way and get a converter built for a LS1 and the TCI flexplate, it is 100% bolt in, the only modding is for the shifter. Ill be running a 3800 fuddle with 4.11s, but down here we run 8th mile, so it should be nasty. But the 2nd poster made the best point....overall its cheaper and better. it will be alot less hassle and will be cheaper to fix if you break it.
