Default Has anyone ever done this?

I kept having major problems with my 4L60E so while it's at the shop getting the 3-4 clutch pack replaced my tranny guy is going to install a manual valve body and T brake, the tranny is already vacuum modulated. My question is has anyone already done this on a 4L60E and if so what kind of results did you get? Am i the first to try something like this? Did I lose my mind?

There is another guy on here that runs a manual setup. What reasoning behind going manual, other than to take the computer out of the shifting? I don't see how it would help the problem your describing.

What kind of stuff are you normally breaking? At your HP level a good built 4L60E should work fine.

Well the first "built" tranny lost the front pump 3 times in a row, this builder just didn't what he was doing at my expense. With this tranny I lost the 3-4 clutch pack after 6 passes. You are correct about taking out the PCM in as much as the tranny regulation is concerned. I think the 4L60E could be a fairly strong tranny if the computer weren't involved in anything except the rev limiter. At any rate It's just an experiment right now, I don't if or how well it will work but I thought why not try, it's a fresh tranny now and it just might keep me from going to a Th-400 right away.
