Default 4L60E with input shaft sensor question

Has anyone tried to run a 2007+ 4L60E (with the iss) in an application using a 2004 ECM? The 2004 4L60E and the 2007+ 4L60E use physically identical plugs but the 2007+ 4L60E uses 15 pins in the connector opposed to 13 pins used in the connector found on the 2004 4L60E. After researching wiring diagrams here on LS1tech, I have found that the only difference between the two plugs is the extra two wires which make up the iss. I am wondering if I can get away with plugging the 2007+ 4L60E into the 2004 style computer and reprogramming it. The plug from the 2004 style ECM will physically fit, but the pins for the iss (signal and ground) wouldn't receive anything at all from the 2004 ECM. Any thoughts?
